I'd just add a note of caution for the last link you have posted. I would advise people to avoid using Marconi Digital based on my experiences. I purchased an ART Card from them for €140 and 2 months later the card stopped working. They requested that I send the card back and they would issue a new one but I have received nothing back despite sending numerous emails to every connected e-mail address to do with their company. I also contacted them via e-bay and received nothing back. Others on Boards have been stung by them in the past and I would just like to make other aware.

    +1 on Marconi.

    I got stung too.

Think the company is a bloke with a mobile phone and a pocket full of cards :)

Alsat, on the other hand, seem to be professional cowboys. No probs there.

No dish will pick up everything!...

But a 1.2m dish will pick up most satellites for you with a clear view of sight...

I have put a sky dish on a motor for my uncle and it pulls in most of 19.2e and 13e but i wouldn't recommend it!

Get a bigger dish and get the most out of that motor..

Are you missing some keys on your keyboard! :D

If you already have a Sky dish up you're better off getting another 80cm and pointing it at hotbird. A motor can be tricky to setup even for someone who knows what their doing!

I have a 1.2m motor and to be honest I only ever use it for Sky UK and for Hotbird for the UTD games. I rarely, if ever use any others to be honest!

I'm contradicting myself here but Alsat are not exactly covering themselves in glory right now.

Thanks for the post. I'm considering going down the foreign satellite route and confusion reigns!

Would the pdf - http://ondemand.ddns.me/Pay-TV.pdf - be available anywhere else or would you have a copy? The site is down.

Site still down-best to wait a couple of weeks and the guys here will know for definite what cards and providers are the best for the upcoming season.
No point ordering cards etc. only to find out they are useless.

Keep an eye on this forum and you can't go too far wrong.

    Hi All,

I dropped my Sky sub 6 months ago in favour of Freesat.

A couple of years ago I installed a second dish (80cm Triax). Thanks to all the great advice on boards I now have installed a Triax multi-lnb bracket and have both 13E and 19.2E FTA channels using a Disecq Switch and an MVision S-4 SD receiver.

For the new footie season I would like to get a foreign sub for EPL. I am interested in the HD Cyfra+ card from Satsklep (around €170 for 13 months I believe). I will need to replace my MVision receiver with a HD receiver.

I would like your opinions on what receiver to buy with bearing the following in mind:

    - Must be HD
    - Must be compatible with Cyfra+ card
    - Needs to work with my disecq switch i.e. to receive both 13E and 19.2E
    - I would also like a receiver that can take an Al Jazeera card as well as the Cyfra card
    - I do not need a PVR but if I could connect a USB HDD that would be a bonus
    - Not looking for something too expensive

I think those are all the requirements but if I have missed anything obvious I would appreciate your comments and advice.

Vu+ solo all the way m8...

It wouldn't let you down on all aspects and is one hell of a box!!

Just wish i could have one :(

The Ferguson Ariva 120 Combo, Can be bought cheap from Satsklep, Only has 1 card reader tho, (But then again can only watch 1 channel at a time!) I have this box and am goin get both Al Jazeera and Cyfra+ cards for it. Its also HD & can recieve DTT & Sat, I have mine hooked up to Hotbird 13E, Astra & Eurobird 28E via a Diseqc Switch and works beautifully so Diseqc not a problem on this box.:D Oh and has PVR & Built in Media player. Perfect for recording the footie!

Well, I still think the Technomate TM6900 Super is a very good receiver with a nice UI, though only has 1 card slot.

There's also the Edision Argus Mini 2in1 (and an IP version), which has 2 card slots. However, I'm not sure what cards this box supports either officially or otherwise.

Wish I could have one too! I googled it just to get a price and it looks like it is way over my budget. Thanks for the suggestion though!

This sounds exactly what I am looking for and your setup is exactly what I need for the new season. Thanks for the advice:)

Your welcome lad, I bought 2 these boxes, an 80cm Dish, 2 Diseqc switches for 2 different boxes and heaps of cable especially for the Cyfra+ & Al Jazeera card subscriptions. Will be a great investment in the long run :)

On a related note, does anyone know if the Technomate 7100HD supports the Cyfra+ card? I'm thinking of switching to that this year.

Yes, it does. It performed well when I had one. Minstrel27 I think has a similar subscription with the same box?

Yes both do work with the Technomate TM-6900 HD Combo at least.

It should definitely work the technomates multicrypt card reader.

Aye, I can confirm it stopped updating in CCcam. Had to email satsklep and they promptly sent a signal. Very impressed actually - emailed them on saturday evening and they sent the signal on sunday morning!
