Question about Vestax VCI 100....

Howyeas, have a Vestax VCI 100. It's running off traktor le and the loop button only sets a four bar loop? Anyone know how to set manual loops or anything using the controller or can you only use it off the laptop with that?

Was looking at DJ Tech Tools and was wondering if it's possible to upgrade the controller to a VCI 100 Special Edition. Do I have to actually buy a new unit or is it a case of replacing the panels on the top of it and installing new drivers?

That's the layout I was looking at ^^^

    Theres the site.

Seen this aswell but not sure if it'll sort out my problem.

All advice very much appreciated please!

You can re-map the loop whatever you like within traktor, personally I use a loop in/active setting and a loop + - on two other keys... its probably already mapped though

'As explained in the previous part, the Loop*4 button can be used to start/stop a 4-beat loop. More advanced looping is possible though, by using the Key button.
While holding the Key button pressed, here are the other options you have:
-Press one of the small loop function buttons to start a 2, 4, 8 or 16 beat loop.
-Press the playlist up or down button to double or halve the loop length.
-Use the center part of the jog wheel to move the loop forwards or backwards
-Use the outer part of the jog wheel to change the length of the loop
-Press the first of the 3 buttons to select long loop lengths (2,4,8 or 16 beats)
-Press the second of the 3 buttons to select short loop lengths (1/4, 1/2, 1 or 2 beats)'

On DJTT You can download some of the vci mappings which already have this set up (if your lazy).

Can you upgrade it to the speical edition vci-100 ??

AFAIK, apart from the cosmetics (different overlay, possibly different buttons and knobs, all of which can be bought seperately) the biggest difference in the SE is the firmware. Vestax bowed out of firmware at 1.2 but DJTT came out with 1.3 which fixed a few glitches, and more recently 1.4 which gives much finer control on pitch sliders and jog wheels.

You need a firmware updating interface/dongle thing, that DJTT sell, but if you're any way handy with screwdrivers and PCs it's very easy to do. Every bit of info, tutorial and file you'll need is on, or linked from the DJTT site.

Just be aware, I think if you go to 1.4 firmware and want to use the latest mapping from DJTT, you need to be running Traktor Pro 1.2 or later if memory serves.
