    Hi there,

Does anyone know if there are any courses in tailoring/suit-making in the South, preferably in the Cork region?

    Hya Teddy.
I made that inquiry about a year ago with no joy. There are lots of dressmaking courses but nothing specifically for suit making. I would suggest you find one of those and use it to learn the basics. You'll find that you will be able to easily turn what they teach you to suits. Start with waistcoats. :)

    Thanks Old Goat.

There seems to be no shortage of dressmaking courses, right enough. So you reckon I could learn all the basic stitching and needlework etc. there and apply same to making suits and other clothes? I guess there's no shortage of books and manuals to aid me once I've learned the rudiments.

Once you havethe basics you could do work exp with a tailors, I did this when I was 15 and picked up how to do a suit in about 6 weeks. But it is the practice that makes it, even now 15 yrs later I could do with more experience with tailoring.
