Just wondering has anyone had previous versions of these phones? Want to buy one for a my farmer husband - are they good- meaning hardwearing, long battery?
    And will they be unlocked?
Here's the site : http://www.jcbphone.co.uk/handset-range they're not available as of yet or so it says on the site

Check out the Samsung Solid X Cover, very hardy phone and nice to use, it's about 1/3 of the price of the JCB's and warranty isn't a problem in Ireland.

Thanks very much, looking for as many ideas as possible, and better price would be even better!

The Samsung Solid Extreme II would be your best bet :)

No, that's old school and 2G only, check out the x - cover, that's the one to get now. Voda, O2 and 3 have it.

were actually talking about the same phone :) The one your talking about is the old Solid Extreme, the X Cover and the Solid Extreme II names are interchangable :)

Yeah but theyre really expensive, and the Solid Extreme/X Cover have the same IP certification as the Landrover phone and its like at least half the price

Maybe its the same IP rating, but it wouldn't take the same force of strength

Thats the purpose of the IP rating, to determine the toughness, and if they have the same certification they must be pretty close in terms of toughness

No not the same really unless the third scale is used. IP is ingress protection and usually only followed by two digits. First for physical and second for waterproofing. The third would be used for force.

So if its IP rating is 65, the 6 only means that dust wont get in, its nothing for actual force. It would have to be IP 656 for example, but I think the landrover would take more than the scale goes. Hope im explaining this right :)
