They are dead right too. An immediate General Election is needed. The Greens are only pussy-footing about. Get a new government in now voted by the people to make the 2011 budget and move the country forward.
Sinn Fein seem to be calling for it as well.
Gilmore is dithering on whether he'll call for a motion of no confidence in the Taoiseach.
How long more can this government last?

Labour have followed the lead of Fine Gael in asking for an immediate General Election. Before Fine Gael's call for this, Gilmore was dithering about a vote of no confidence in the Taoiseach.

What a mess to inherit for any new Government. Biffo will be glad to go IMO. The Greens are just posturing and would change their minds again at the drop of a hat.

    Fine Gael are right.

The Green Party's call for an election today and statements from independents confirms that this government is dead and has no mandate to represent the people of this state one iota longer.

They should go before this day is out.

The government have ran scared of the 4 bye-elections. They really are a joke and scared to go to the people.

Cowen will go to the Aras tonight.

Is that you're opinion or a realistic possibility?

Given that Healy-Rae and Lowry have withdrawn their support of the Government along with the Green announcement today I think Cowen will or should go to the Aras tonight as well. His and the Governments position is untenable at this stage given the effective feeling of no confidence emanating from their junior partners and collaborating independent TD's.

I've said it before in the Green thread.
This is insanity to have an election before the budget.

All we'll have is a series of manifestoes which are long on aspirations and short on specifics.

It is in the interest of all the political parties to do this but is decidedly not in the interests of the people. We'll be voting for an unknown.

The IMF will be forced to wait while this nonsenese goes on,dragging in Portugal and others into further crisis.

I have never been more disgusted with all our elected representatives.
