    Hi all,

I've a dual suspension bike from halfords which is about 3 years old and has been used and abused but now I need it just for getting too and from places.

Every one or two rotations I peddle the chain jerks and leaves the peddle loose for a second which doesn't make cycling easy.

Wonder does anyone know someone or somewhere near UCC that could fix this fairly cheaply?

    Thanks!

    Sounds like a loose crank.

Why not scroll back a few days ago and check oit that mobile service running in Cork? Afaik, the only bike shop nearish UCC is Victoria cycles.

Try Cork Bicycle Services, Mícheál will come to you in his van: www.corkbicycleservices.ie

I know he's been talking to people in UCC about publicising his business among cyclists there.

I could be way out but is the chain slipping off the cogs? It could be that you just need to adjust the derailer. Check out youtube for vid's on how to do this. It takes a bit of trial and error but may save you €70. Also cleaning the chain and cogs and lubing them will help

I'd arranged with Michael to have my exotic microSHIFT gruppo looked over as it was giving me shifting problems. Anyhow, I took the bike out at the weekend before my appointment and through a bit of gear trashing I managed to feck up the rear derailleur. I dropped Michael an email about this. He came out as per the original appointment and looked at it. He told me that there wasn't really anything that he could do besides a quick fix but he advised against this as I really needed to replace some of the parts. He knew his stuff and I really appreciated his honestly and the time which he spent with me which, as it turned out, was for nothing.

Really nice bloke. Great service from my first experience and his van looked very well tricked out with tools and spare parts. I'll definitely be using his service in future if needed.

I think that I've now given up on the microSHIFT experiment so...... any noticeable difference between Force and Red besides the bling factor and a bit of weight? (Lumen?)
