    Recently been converted to the usefulness of this.

    Lots of bands/artists on it and it's a great way to hear some of their thoughts on current affairs etc.

    You do people follow?

    I used to follow HEALTH, but they started kind of annoying me, so I bailed on them so I could continue to enjoy their music intact. @loscampesinos make me laugh a lot, but back when their last album leaked, Gareth had a bit of a hissyfit and started a big row with somebody who tweeted about it.

    @OwenPallett is pretty great, he used to tweet back and forth with @EdDroste, but Droste deleted his account a while back. Was a real shame actually, Ed used to be really funny and he responded to fans all the time.

    @The_National are great if you really, really like The National.

    Will that national have as many updates as Amanda palmer? I swear she does every little thing on twitter. very annoying.

    I don't have that many bands/music ones on there, apart from some of the phantomfm crew.

    Rioferdy5 is good for a laugh or two every day!

    Graham Linehan is good,I follow some blogs on it, Nathan from wavves, he can get a bit annoying.Apparently, Jedward's twitter is brilliant, haven't followed it though.

    She's a bit overkill alright, I gave up on her. The National don't post nearly as much - even between them, they couldn't possibly have that kind of time - but they do post a lot of fun backstage photos and such.

    Graham Linehan (@Glinner) is great. I suppose for our purposes, it's worth pointing out that he's got great taste and quite an interest in music, but quite aside from that, he just does a great job of relaying all the most interesting bits of the internet in a timely and engaging fashion.

    Jedward's twitter is great in a text-form car crash sort of way.

    Wayne Coyne - (@waynecoyne) - is uh, Wayne Coyne obviously. Win Butler (@winbutler) is a now defunct spoof, but was good for a laugh. ("It's not easy to maintain the "angry loner" thing while in a band with my wife, brother and four other people. But by God, I've got to try!")

    Andrew Collings (@collingsa), Lauren Laverne (@laverneshow) and Zane Lowe (@ZaneLowe) are all worth following, whether you like their shows or not. I like Collings a lot, I find Lowe insufferable, but he is an excellent source of music news. I wasn't a huge fan of Laverne, but she's actually pretty funny.

    Probably the only time anybody will hear GBV on TV over here is because of him and I salute him for that.

    Bahahahahahaha! :D

    I don't have a Twitter account, but i check out Steven Drozd and Wayne Coyne now and then. Not because I don't like other people, I just don't know who to look for. I'll check out a few of the ones mentioned here.

    What benefits are there to signing up to Twitter? Apart from being told when things are updated?

    I find it great for soccer news, you are about a day ahead of the papers at least and if there is a big story it get's out there so fast.

    Irish music wise i listen to the ramblings of @Nialler9, @foggynotions, @phantom1052, @derekphantom, @NadineORegan, and jimcarollOTR

    I'd be the opposite. I can see the whole idea of using twitter to promote music, products etc. But I think it's useless and only use because I have to for my own website. I do think it's useless for that though....
    I'd put it bottom of my list. Suppose that's the problem with the net. It seems to be that people, me included, post our opinions online thinking that someone somewhere actually cares....

    I think you're kinda missing the point if you only use it for keeping tabs on updates and bulletins. I mean, I can see why it's useful to promote a website like that, but that's not why I'd be interested in it at all. You get out of it what you put in. It's not just for posting about what you had for lunch of whatever, and if you just use it for that, you'll find yourself ignored pretty quickly.

    It's an ongoing conversation you dip in and out of; you use it to keep in touch with a lot of people at once, keep each other up to date with news, relay useful or interesting links, and take part in an ongoing discussion about current topics with people from all over the world. I'm a huge fan of it, but it took me a while for it's full potential to become apparent.

    This is the best summation of twitter i've come across.

    @tmorello - Tom Morello
    @boniver
    @blobtower - Justin Vernon
    @billy - Billy Corgan (his music related tweets are interesting, his "preachy" ones ain't)

    @stephenfry
    @80sEddieMurphy - used to be updated with quotes from his old stand-up routines.

    Jaysus, yeah. Billy Corgan is worth following for short, timely glimpses at the naked lunacy of a once talented guy. 75% of his posts are justifications for his more recent output.

    It's fascinating in a car crash kind of way, but a bit depressing to see what's become of the guy.

    Pitchfork recently did a list of artists, labels and festivals they follow. Not sure how people here feel about Pitchfork though. Expanded people I was following loads
