    Hi there,
Silly question perhaps but can the doctor fill out the eye-test form assuming he has them. Form for permit says it can be done by specialist or qualified practitioner.

Is it expensive to go to an optometrist? My doctor would be free.

Many 'Specsavers' type outfits have €5 tests early some days.

How is your doctor free? If you have a medical card then tax payers will be paying for it. Nothing is free!
