Thanks to the bewildering power of Facebook, I managed to befriend one of the creators of Kick Off 2, Dino Dini, and had a chat with him tonight.

I hope he wouldn't find it cheap for me to put the conversation here, he is one of my gaming heroes.

when your player gets to age 113, his stats start to go back up....by age 120 they are all 200

I fell out with ANCO, then Anil Gupta wanted to continue milking the brand without me
so Steve made Kickoff 3
And I made GOAL!

We loved Goal...one of the first atmospheric football games
the build up from the crowd was incredible
but it was too easy to score

Yeh I put in quite a bit of work into the crowd

they didn't really....sensible soccer was all about the realistic teams and leagues....the football itself was rubbish....kick off 2 was 1,000,000 times better
how come you guys didn't get proper licences?

Because they costs money

I was fed up with playing R.J.Fernandez
that would have sealed it though....the game was perfect, all you needed was the licence

Nice. Goal is probably my favourite football game ever (although I'm surprised myself at how addicted to the new FIFA I am). Yes it was easy to score but that was part of the fun of the game. Constant fast-paced end-to-end action. I loved it.
