Well, the Astra is leaking oil from between the bellhousing and engine. It hasn't been to a mechanic yet, I've just been topping it up.

I was really hoping it was the sump gasket but to me it looks more like the rear oil seal. I plan on getting a mechanic to replace it as its a fairly big job.

Just wondering, how much would I expect to have to fork out? I know the fecking seal is only about €10 so all cost would be labour.

    Any ideas Boardsies?
    :)

I got mine done on the Golf for 300 including a temperature sensor to be changed (+ coolant) at a Citroen main dealer.

I am pretty sure I could have gotten it cheaper if I had the time to shop around.

Cheers bbk. Funny you say that as my thermostat housing is also currently knackered and is pissing out coolant as well :p

I plan on the thermostat job myself so hopefully the oil seal job shouldn't work out too bad price wise, must check it out during the week.

    thanks.
