Peugeot 106 electrical fault

Hello, have a problem with the electrics - when I turn off the ignition it doesn't seem to be cutting the electrical power - the radio still works, and if I turn on the indicators or windscreen wipers I am getting strange noises from the glovebox relays and a flickering battery light on the dash. I have changed the battery, fuses look OK and I'm working my way around the earth points. Not sure whether it could be the ignition switch itself? If anyone managed to solve a similar problem or has any suggestions I'd appreciate your help because I'm running out of ideas.

Depends on the year of your 106 but it could be a fault with the bsi.
    (thats if it has one)
The bsi controls all lights, wipers etc.

this may be worth a look. Lift bonnet. (on the right hand side as your looking into the engine bay under the battery) you will see the main wiring loom plug.
It often suffers from corrosion and can cause all sorts of hassles. the cap unscrews and the plug can be disconnected by pulling. Inspect for corrosion and spray with something like wd40.
As i say its worth a look!

looks like this on a gti

Thanks for the advice Row and Javiero, nipped out straight away to check under the bonnet. Bought a new battery (which was charged up) but was drained in an instant which near broke my heart. It wasn't the starter motor but turned out to be a duff alternator. Discovered that a new alternator is definitely not cheap, but the car will be a necessity for a while longer I'd say and its pretty economic in the longer run.
    thanks again.
