    Hi,
my 05 X-Type is stuttering a bit at cruising speed and is throwing out a bit of smoke under acceleration. Also my mpg is suffering. I just got a service done last week and asked my mechanic to look into it but I don't think he did to be honest.

I had to get my four fuel injectors reconditioned this time last year and I'm praying its nothing as serious. Whats the most likely fault for these symptons?

Does it have a rough idle aa well? Apparently there is/was a dealership ecu upgrade to fix this issue some time back. Call your dealership with you chassis number and ask about this.

Failing that it a fuel blockage issue or EGR valve.

Sorry can't be more specific without seeing car.

    Best of luck,
    CM

Idle is fine. I'm being led to believe from another forum that it may be a split in the intercooler pipe going to the EGR valve. I took out the valve and cleaned it this evening but it wasn't too clogged to be honest. Had a quick look at the pipe and couldn't see any damage but plenty of gunk on the outside of it. (I can also hear slight noise from the front like air escaping when accelerating).

If no change I think I'll have a closer look at the pipe this weekend when a bit more time.
Anyhow thx for the advice CM.
