After one year of unemployment I have used up my entitlement to job seekers benefit. I have now been offered a Fas course of 16 weeks duration. Will this
re-qualify me for JSB ? If so, for how long. What happens if I miss a few days of the course ?

No it will not requalify you. To requalify you need to work and pay 13 A contribution stamps. In FAS you put up a J class stamp.
I don't think you get paid for any days you miss on a FAS course.
