    Hi.

What is the best way to shop online for someone who does not have a credit card?

    Thanks.

A pre-pay credit card is the only practical alternative. 3V, Payzone Money, etc.

    Hi,
If you are buying online in Ireland nearly all websites would accept a postal order or a bank draft. They would be silly not to as business is so quiet. Just e-mail the online shop and I am sure they would faciliate you.

Open up an Ulster bank account and they issue a Visa Debit as an ATM card. This card can then be used in 99% places all over the world that take Visa. It also has the benefit of being a debit card so no possibility of debt.

is that a current account and what charges are on the card. 3v is not bad except they prob make a fortune from all the cents left over as its hard to buy exactly the amount of credit e.g 20 euro credit and you buy 19.95

get a Dublin City gift card, from one of many shopping centres in Dublin. There are no charges or fees, and the card can be used online (its a prepaid mastercard)

don't they only work in shopping centres?

the Dublin City gift card is a prepaid mastercard. Whilst it is offered to promote shopping within their own shopping centre, the cards can actually be used at any retailer that accepts payment by Mastercard.

Theyre also great to use when booking Ryanair flights, as there are no booking fees when paying with a prepaid mastercard ;)

Quick heads up on the shopping centre master cards. Some websites will not be able to accept these cards - it's not that they don't accept mastercards but the shopping centre ones do not have a valid customer address linked to them to compare with the customers shipping address. You will find a lot of sites security procedures will end up rejecting the transaction.

Most centres will say that but in reality they can be used at any mastercard terminal :)
