Hi folks, not much of a car fanatic, once it goes thats good enough for me....until now! I have a 2008 skoda octavia combi 1.9tdi, i want to change the seats to a full leather set, so far no luck finding a set by any car dismantler - loads of phone calls and searching on partfinder.ie. My question is - will the leather seats from another volkswagon group fit ie a set from a passat perhaps - will also need the drivers seat to have a lumbar support, i have this in the skoda and find it invaluable on long trips. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

You could always get your own reupholstered

A mate got his re-upholstered in Enniskillen for about £600, takes 3 hours, they have to take the seats out, and they look much better than the originals.

I'll see if I can find the name of the place.

Try ebay.co.uk too. I got a full electric and heated leather interior including door cards for my laguna on ebay.co.uk and the guy had no problem shipping them to me.

    Try the UK,

I got a full cream leather interior with matching door cards for the wifes Focus for I think €430 odd delivered, it was spotless!

@OP, If you go second-hand, make sure you also get the door cards!

that must be the cheap vinyl taxi type leather when you consider both the cost and fitting time.

Getting a proper job done with proper leather will cost allot more. These guys here are used by most of the main dealers, where a buyer might spec leather too late in the order. They are very expensive though

or could it be because they are not part of the great republic of ireland rip off ??

More likely the car is cheaper to buy without leather for the dealer and they also avoid paying vrt on the option. Then they get it finished by cartronics and pocket the difference. Simples!

Leather option(thats not electric seats either) on a 3 series bmw is £1,200, do the maths;)

and thats basic leather not nappa which is £2k+

Bear in mind folks that he said "combi" which means an estate, finding leather for an estate is surely more difficult as there are less of them no?

Ha ha! I just thought of it no1beemerfan's post is like a "Spot the difference" competition! :D

    I can spot 9....

thanks to all for your advice. got a front seat out of a crashed octavia at the weekend, leaving the leather upholstery for awhile. I did however buy a leather steering wheel and set of 4 alloys from the same scrap yard tho. that should keep me busy for awhile! :D

    Hey Colm,

I am in exactly the same boat as the OP here, in that I want to get my 08 Octavia Combi kitted out in leather. Did you manage to find out the name of the outfit in Enniskillen that does the reupholstery? Cheers

Cost aside i'd be dubious of that, anyone who can re upholster an interior in 3 hours needs a medal!

Seats look great, personally i would have went the other way with the faux wood and removed it all.

Leather for the seats usually comes in a kit, so it's just stretching it over the seats and fastening. Probably could be done in 3 hours.

I'd say the bits that take the time are the bits that make a proper job like the door cards and armrest.

    .

That sounds like seat covers to me,if i was getting an interior reupholstered i'd expect to have the seats stripped down of all original covers and then re covered in tailored leather to give a better than factory finish.Leather kits stretched over the seats never look good, the make the seats look bloated and obviously covered e.g where a recessed head rest sits nicely in the seat from factory it won't after the leather has been stretched over it.

The leather kit is tailor mad in the far fast for the specific cars. Properly fitted, it's a very, very good job.

Had a few Mondeos done last year and it looks like factory.

Had them done before too. Not unreasonable for 2 guys to have a car done in 3 hours.

To the OP I Know a friend of mine was able to put a leather interior from a passat into an Octavia with very little fiddling and since the superb is very much like a passat I would be surprised if the passat seats wouldn't fit. It'd be a lot easier to find a high line passat estate in a scrap yard too.

I've has two cars done here and they are the fitters of choice with all the Skoda heads in the UK http://www.theseatsurgeons.com/metadot/index.pl?id=2171;isa=Category;op=show York and somewhere "dahn sahth, maite". They have their own factory in China and they can do pretty much any colour combination you like to order.

The last time I was there they were fitting a Wayne Rover with a custom leather kit - headlining, dash, etc. for £7,000.

Brand new custom-made custom-fit front and rear seats, door-cards, head-restraints, etc for Octavia (not VRS) £850, Fabia VRS £720. Ask about their favourite method of payment which is very cost effective. They supply a company in Dublin but I've never used the Dublin outfit.
