Two fun runs which aim to raise monies for charities

    http://www.santafunrun.ie

Good idea and I will run the one in Ennis, but on further investigation some points do bother me a bit.
    • The charities in question Clare Crusaders (Ennis run) and Barandos (Limerick) will only receive 50% and 40% of proceeds respectively.
    • €15 for kids is a bit on the steep side, maybe offer a family ticket or €10 as we should be encouraging our children to get out in the open.
    • If the cost of medal, Santa suit hire and hot chocolate are eating into the charities percentage of the take then get rid.
    • This is been ran by an Limited Company who are most likely gaining a profit to some degree.
I have emailed the company in question my thoughts on this so maybe they may clarify.

I'll happily enter the Limerick one if you get a good response to your queries, I'd rather run in my own gear and see all the money go to charity but I suppose things like santa suits are needed to get people out of the house?

Got a reply from the organizers
    • Reason for lower % of funds in Limerick is the cost of posting out the Santa suits.
    • Took on board my concern about the child's price and will consider offering a family ticket for future events
    • They feel that Santa suits, medal and hot chocolate add to the fun of this event and make it a unique event.
    • As regards profit side of things
We are not an non-profit organisation but we do like to give back to worthwhile charities. This is the reason we collaborated with two great charities for our Santa Fun Runs.
While not stating what % they hope to make at least they are been upfront to some degree.

I still think that its worthwhile to participate in these

Will have a crack at the one in Ennis I reckon - 5k is just the job for this time of year.
