You have got to be joking?
You would seriously waste someone's hard earned money by blowing it on a lousy ring?

Of all the things to waste money on, engagement rings have to take the biscuit. They have little form and no function.

How about a reality check? €1000 is more than enough for an engagement ring, it's only a symbol. Anything more and you have serious issues.

If someone wants to spend €10 or €100,000 on a ring, that's up to them. You can't judge everyone by your standards of what is "normal".

The night of my parents wedding, my mam left her ring on the bedside locker in the hotel and forgot all about it - the ring was worth about £2000. When they went back a few days later, they searched the lost and found and took out a ring they thought was mams.
Few more days later, she noticed there was no engraving on the inside - so they went to see how much it was worth for the craic - turned out it cost £12000
Of course, being decent people, they returned it...

Although thats no use to OP.... :)

Diamonds! OP, there's four places. There's the Diamond Hut, that's on third. There's Diamonds-R-Us, that's on third too. You got Put-Your-Finger-There. That's on third. Swing Low, Sweet Diamond Ring... Matter of fact, they're all in the same complex; it's the diamond complex on third. The diamond district.

Myself and my boyfriend recently got engaged we went to several shops and meet with a private jewellers, eventually i found my perfect ring in a jewellers up the north and it was £6250 the jewellers said he would give it to us for that price in euro, we paid a deposit of €700. the ring was 3 stone t cw, centre stone 0.56 & triple EX Si1, side stones 0.50 each and GD/VG, Si2. all colour E.

My dilemma is we are travelling to New York in 2 weeks, at first i said i couldn't trust anyone in america not to do us, but i just emailed a very reputable Jewellers over there (they come highly recommended by my friend and her cousin) and they have quoted me nearly 2 grand cheaper @ $6470 for a better quality ring it would be all diamonds triple EX and D colour Si1.

what should we do? even with loosing the deposit we would save money. HELP!

if you have that money to spend, and you don't mind losing your deposit, take a look at the one in new york and buy which ever one you prefer! :)

Would you carry 6500 euro stuck to your face??? or hanging out of your back pocket in cash??? Why be so selfish and waste that money on what is just a ring??

    Your poor boyfriend.

Hanikens in the Diamond district are absolutely fantastic. Superb value and great service. They are on 66 West 47th St in Futurama Diamond Exchange.
