Californication star David Duchovny has revealed that the theme of the upcoming fourth season will be "redemption".
In the third season finale, lead character Hank Moody (Duchovny) was arrested for committing statutory rape.
"We ended up with Hank going to jail so that was the low point," said the actor, in an official interview for Showtime. "This season, we're going to rise up again."
His co-star Madeline Martin (Hank's daughter Becca) added: "This season is about love, loss and [then] carrying on."
Guest stars set to appear in the new season include Zoe Kravitz and former FlashForward star Michael Ealy.
Californication returns on January 9 at 9/8c on Showtime.[/COLOR]

I look forward to the return of Hank Moody and his adventures.

And the Runkles, they crack me up.

Stephen Tobolowsky is also in this season. He's been talking about doing his first ever love scene for this show on his podcast (The Tobolowsky Files).

im gonna go ahead and **not spoiler tag** from here, all our cousins from across the water have by now sent everyone there DVDs,

loved these 2 epsidoes, really hoping they start off with a double bill so i don have to wait 4 weeks for the next episode:(,

i loved how him getting assaulted in his balls by the cop came back to save him this time, they never really went into detail about what happened after that, but it will be interesting to see if the rape charge will stand, maybe at the end of the season,
i still think marcy and runkle are great, gotta love them, great when marcy started giving hank a handjob in the bed and runkle ran in naked with a bat, and the three of them cudling then, brilliant

also eva amurri i think will be a great addition to the cast, a proper rival to hank, absolutley georgious and very free spirited, also knows her way around hank
    ;)

    64497.gif
also really funny when hes following karen while shes on the phone, and she hangs up and throws it at him, then gives him the jump anyway, you can tell theyll get back together,

becka its hard to tell what shell do, i dunno if shes still hanging with that girl from last season, will she hang with a rougher crowd or what this season, last season i think she started experimenting, so will be interesting

    a nice kick-off to season 4 cant wait:D

Ack, I didn't realise episode 2 had leaked - kind of mean to spoil episode 2 before it's officially aired, don't you think?

Episode 1 was a welcome return; I'd forgotten how much better than most shows out there the writing and especially the delivery is in Californication.

I'm not watching this show, so tell me which part relates to episode 2 and I'll add spoiler tags.

She was in the third season, and hasn't appeared in these episodes. Addison Timlin is new to the cast in the 4th season.

Good to see it back on, and straight back into the same lunacy with Hank.

27 minute episodes, 12 or 13 episodes per season; you could probably do the whole lot some Saturday afternoon. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon really.

renewed for season 5 already, :)

    http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/01/14/californication-season-fiv/

gotta love it, had its best premier yet with 1.2 million viewers, i find it very strange that only 1.2 million people watch this show, thought it would be much higher, :pac:

    is nobody watching this

last weeks was ok, no real need for the suicide story, and after it was introduced i kinda expected to to draw out over 3 or 4 episodes, so when it ended in the same episode it seemed a bit pointless,

this weeks was total adventure, which makes californiaction so great, had to laugh at how hated runkle was by the billionare and his monkey, also wonder is he actually the daddy,

hank as usual this season has to be dragged to everything, hes really getting sick of it all, yet he still has no idea what he wants outta life, everything he touches turn to ****, usually just before it turns to gold, but i cant seem to see that happening this time, he might get off the charges, but thatll be about it,

its shaping up to be another good season :D

This was a great episode, didn't expect to see some auto-erotic asphyxiation..... :P Runkle vs. The Monkey is a classic californication moment I think..... :D

probably because it airs on showtime which is a premium cable channel (much like hbo) so not nearly as many people would recieve it

I really don't know how I'm going to adjust to life without Californication again after the finale :(

Best show on TV by a country mile

The end of episode 11 was so sad. The seasons should be longer!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,200 ✭✭✭✭Basq

This season has been much better than last season..

.. so what do we think Hank will get? It'd be almost a cop-out if he didn't get jail time. It's been leading up to it all season.

And season 5's opener could mirror season 4's opener with Runkle waiting to pick him up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,385 ✭✭✭✭D'Agger

Well either way my moneys on him writing a new book whilst inside

It'd be brilliant if the first episode of S5 was of his last day in prison - I'm sure he'll be missed when he leaves :)

Oh, what an episode the last one was! The end where he walked through the set seeing his family was killer!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,200 ✭✭✭✭Basq

    Disappointing I thought.

    Just felt very lazy.

Yeah, felt like a quick rap up like there wasn't going to be a 5th season I thought, but there is!
Good party though, Rob Lowe is totally unbelievable as a real person but he sure is whacky.

    Decent season.

Jesus it's such a load of crap for the last 3 or 4 episodes. It's like some documentary about how all the cast members are friends outside of the show more than an actual tv show. Maybe that's what people wanted, not I.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,385 ✭✭✭✭D'Agger

I thought the ending wasn't fantastic by any means but it could've been alot worse.

One thing I will say - the best thing about this show from season 1, episode 1, has been the dialogue - sharp, witty, hilarious so it's saying something that I honestly believe the dialogue in this finalé was the best yet - the dinner party was outstanding I thought...loved it

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 35,738 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

Very disappointing ending. Nothing really happened.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,189 ✭✭✭Gekko

bit of a rubbish ending all right.

I'll miss watching it on Monday nights though.
