Saw this on another discussion board. Think it is just a rumour.....seemingly someone in the know put something up on their FB.

Is it Jennifer Maguire on Republic of Telly that started it? Not a source close to political world if it was.

I think she is just resigned to her fate ! Where upon she can disappear into the sunset with a nice big FAT pension and struff her face with choclates and fine wines !

    what is elaborate about it?

No idea , there (The Journal) words not mine.

Interesting tweet by Dan Boyle : There is a questioning of trust and an adding to uncertainty that is making the basis for being in government much more difficult.

Do you think the greens would pull the plug?

Is this government by twit? Anyone else think twitter is just another forum for political scaremongering? Has Ireland really got that bad that people have to use Jennifer Maguire as insider political knowledge? On the plus side for her, twits like that are a good way to advertise her new show. Another form of viral advertising.

Mark how the blood of Santa follow'd it...

RTE apologised at the end of the one news that it was a Republic of Telly Hoax.

What I'd like to know is how a now proven totally inaccurate rumour thread is allowed to stay open? It should not just be closed, it should be deleted.

I'm a few clicks away from starting my own inaccurate rumour thread about an apparent Lenihan-Rehn-IMF circle jerk. Sure if its not a bailout they are discussing, my mind wanders to think what they could be up to locked in a room together....

Perhaps because the OP asks a question rather than makes any claims

Ah I see, of course. So I'll be sure to phrase my innacurate thread title in a similar way....

    Let's see.

'Are Brian Lenihan, and the ECB people and the IMF big boys sitting in a room with their pants down, hand lotion at the ready.....' and I'll stop there to save dan_d (and the rest of us) the mental scarring. Phrasing an inaccuracy as a question is no excuse for a thread.

    'Has mary Harney resigned?'

    No. Case closed
    / thread

Looks like the rumour was true.

On the 9 o'clock news on RTE, she said that she won't be contesting the next election and has offered her resignation to Brian Cowen.
