Intermittent noise to diagnose

    Hi all,

I have a 2001 Nissan Primera 2.0 with CVT auto transmission.

There is a intermittent strange noise causes vibration at floor and pedals that I can't even guess possible reason. It wasn't there when I bought car.

Let me tell you my conclusions on possible reasons then you can correct me If I am wrong

I can define noise as 1-1.5 second long a metal to metal clicking noise. In another way, It is like a spring is being released and while touching a metal object.

it is like slipping alternator belt but a belt shouldn't cause metallic noise and vibration.

Noise comes from front left where automatic transmission is located

It happens every morning when I start car and exactly in first 3 seconds when I move the car.

It also sometimes happens when I go over speed bumps or three yellow strips on the road. In both situation it happens when front tyres touches road surface again. This is when there is a load on front suspension.

It happens both going straight or turning both direction

When it happens my hid headlights flickers. I suspect alternator but can't see relation with suspension

I think it is not CV joints or drive shaft as noise doesn't change w.r.t. speed or rev. I also think it should be continuous noise in that case.

I thought it may be a sticking caliper being released but there is no sign of heat in alloys or imbalanced braking power.

Gearbox is reconditioned 10k miles ago by previous owner and car is @110k miles. I don't feel any problem with gearbox. Checked oil level and color and it is ok.

While I write down post, I just started to think it may be pulleys of alternator belt.

    Any other guess ?
