    hi,

I was wondering what issues there are about buying an iPad in the US. I have a friend going to the US soon and was thinking of getting him to pick me up an iPad. Presume the only issue is the plug and the voltage, but an adapter would fix this. Not sure what the pricing is even in the US...

US pricing is on apple website.
    Yes voltage only issue.
However tell you mate to take it out of box etc before coming home.

Bought one for the sister in the Apple cube store in NY last month. No issues whatsover and 200 euro cheaper than buying here.

Bought mine in the US back in May and I've had no problems at all.

Well, without knowing which one was bought, an example would be the top of the range 64GB with 3G, $829 in US, equates to about €615 here, compared to $799 here, so only €16 shy of the quoted €200 cheaper.

Add sales tax to the US price?

Fair point, NYC tax is 8.875% which would make the 64GB 3G model USD 903, convert to Euros with 1.5% markup for the credit card FX and you'd be looking at landing it home for Eur 673 which is still considerably less than the Eur 799 price here.

No . 64gb 699 dollars. She said it's over 800 euro here.

64GB at $699 is the 64GB WiFi, price in Ireland is €699. Good saving but not €200 when you pay sales tax.
