Recently saw a couple of classic zombie films on TV(george romero)
Never been a fan or a viewer before. They where screened on BBC over halloween period.
I find the inaccurate running screaming zombies of some of the modern movies I have seen to be crap.

    The classic orginal Zombie
    How long do Zombies live?
What are there requirements for food water?
What are there tolerences for hot cold tempertaures and salt water?
Do they have vulernbiltes to a biological or chemical attack

    Ammunition supply
How much ammunition is stored in Ireland and where?
How difficult is it to manufacture muntions I am thinking
(cottage industry low tech type places)
Is there any muntions maunfacturing at all anywhere in ireland even
    .22 or shotgun?

Without an ammuntion supply attempting to fight the zombies would be very difficult.

The only other alterntive is some sort of bio-weapon attack
or perhaps a "ned kelly" style suit with some sort of powered
melee weapon like a chain saw.

I think there's little point in attempting to track down weapons and tool up. I'm sure many will have the same plan which means you'll be fighting over a limited supply which will only leave you dependant on something that is useless to you once you run out of ammo, as far as I know ammunition for guns isn't made or stored in great quantity in Ireland so you will run out of ammo.

Zombies can be easily dealt with through planning and herding. A hand held weapon will be good enough for dispatching them in skilled hands, but the point is not to put yourself in that position if you do you'd want to be wearing watertight clothing. Heavy armour shouldn't be necessary after the first month zombie couldn't be anything more than shambling wreaks to to unrepaired damage.

If you can permanently fortify a position you can go old school on them with fixed steam based weapons that are sustainable.

    Just read Max Brooks
    Zombie survival guide
    How long do Zombies live?
    three to five years
    Food
    n/a
    Water
    n/a
    Hot and cold weather
Hot and cold weathercan affect life span and decay rate.
Zombies can freeze in very cold weather and re-emegre in a thaw
    biological or chemical attack
no data for effective weapon but are vurenable to acid attack

he fails to address the issue of home-made muntions manufacting vital
for a medium to long term fight.

Although, freezing can do a huge amount of damage to tissue as well, the zombies muscles may well be so damaged it's incapable of moving.

You could also argue the hot dry weather may mummify a zombie, which is a form of preservation and may allow the zombie to reanimate once it gets rehydrated again.
