Spending Money for Holiday on a Budget

    Hi,
Myself and my boyfriend are travelling to Gran Canaria at the end of the month for one week. We booked this holiday ages ago, however, due to unforseen circumstances, we are now struggling for spending money. I would like to know how much people recommend that we would require. We are SC and will buy food in to eat in the apt, but would also like to eat out at night and enjoy a drink. We reckon we'll have 800 euro total, but I am panicking this is not enough.
    Thanks

truthfully 800 isn't probably a lot and yous will have to cut right down on activities and do a lot of just sitting by the pool but if 800 is all you have then you will just have to get by on that and make the most of it. Just remember this is a HOLIDAY and you are meant to be enjoying it. Yes nightlife maybe limited to dinner and a bottle of wine/beer but that is no reason to be panicking. Just make the most of what you have and enjoy it and make sure you have a some good books to keep you occupied during the day.

Look if the recession has hit you, holidays and going to be probably a bit fewer then they use to be so just enjoy and make the most of the ones you can and stop worrying about money.

Research the locality. Most of the pre-planned trips are expensive, but you can usually get to the same locations cheaper using public transport, etc.

Can I make a suggestion? If you could be more specific about the area you have booked, you are more likely to receive money-saving tips.

€800 is fine. I agree, research the area, use public transport. Buy beer in a supermarket and sneak it into the pool. Remember on these holidays one or 1.5 of the days are travelling. You'll usually have 6 days at most. 800/6 = €133. If you don't go on those pre-arranged tours then €133 could go a long way.
