I'm sure any DOE test center will "pass you" if everything is ok.....also you'll need to be registered with the revenue now before they'll tax it...:(

New system for taxing vans from sept,Form has to be stamped by a guard to say you'll only use the van for work and a vat no. supplied or else you have to tax van as private(as a car)

You can put your PPS no in place of the VAT number and have no problem getting it taxed. then its down to how good you are at talkin yourself out of why you were doin the shoppin on sunday afternoon if a guard stops ya

If you're taxing it privately then you don't need the DOE for the tax. You can tax it, then DOE it and get a CRW in your own time.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Price for an LGV DOE test is €85.74 which is set by the RSA and the test has to be charged at this price, driving a vehicle without a current roadworthiness certificate(DOE or NCT) is a 2 points offence.

Hi guys, I own a 1991 toyota corolla 1.8 diesel car/van.(small van) Its got a very good engine and it has never and will never let me down. It starts first go every time. The only problem is that it would cost a lot of money to do it up for the doe. I see the exact same vans on donedeal and some of the ads say "private tax so doe exempt". I dont mind paying extra at all for the private tax instead of commercial. If I pay the private tax, do I have to get the corolla doe`d at all? All I want is to do drive my old corolla,(which is reliable as any car on the road), legally on the road. I don`t want it to be the end of my old little van. If someone could help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Old thread, but privately taxed vans still have to be DOE'd.

Sure if you didn't have to get it DOE'd then you'd have to get it NCT'd so there would be no difference. Its all fine saying that a car starts every time though but if you know that it needs loads of work for the DOE then its obviously not roadworthy?

Ok thanks, ya I know what you mean, but I live on real country roads and to be honest its not goin to be driven on motorways or anything. Its just for truckin around my local area so its no danger to anyone on the road, its hardly going to fall apart and cause an accident. Thanks for your answer

If it's defective then it's as dangerous to others in your local area as it would be to others on motorways.
