Antenna Booster !?!?!?

    So I bought a 2nd hand radio the other week and installed it today, its a double DIN unit and it is a Japanese model Pioneer Carrozzeria, nice little radio, but now I am in a bit of a situation, when I bought it off this guy he said I will need to pick up an antenna booster / amplifier online because he has lost the original one from his car, it just so happened I had one in the house from a previous project, but I hooked it up and nothing changed, I can still only get RTE Radio 1, I think that's what it is anyway.

    So by my understanding, the radio is set up for another countries wavelength, that doesn't match ours, and I need to expand the radios wavelength in order to pick up our stations???

    I feel like an idiot for buying it now, but I just need to get it sorted at this point. any ideas???

    Ok so on a bit of further investigation I found that this is an extremely common issue, and I seem to need an FM Band Expander, however is this different from an antenna booster???
