just found out the price of visiting santa at aliwee caves this year,

    child is 33 euros
    adult is 15 euros
total for 4 kids and both parents is 162 EUROS!

i have been bringing my kids here for the last 5 years but after seeing these prices those days are over!this is simply greed on behalf of the company who runs the cave.

i cannot understand how they can increase their prices by so much since last year, pure greed.

we booked, 2 adults and 2 kids 96.00, its always been that price. in the last 10 years we either go to bunratty or ailwee caves, ailwee has always been expensive.

depends on exactly what you get for your money, do you get photos and/or presents?

a pressie that you could buy in the €2.00 shop and a stocking that you could buy in the €2.00 shop full of cheap chocolate for the kids, a cup and a glass xmas tree decoration for the adults.

You also get to go 1/2 way into the cave singing Xmas songs and there is storytelling and face painting, they also have a mini carousel and 2 other mini rides.

photos: mouse mat photos/key-rings/fridge magnets are all extra, TBH not worth the money but nothing is these days.

We always go into see the birds of prey exhibit and there is a Xmas market too.

We were there last year and had a super time. Didn't think it was that expensive for something you could almost drag the whole day out of. The rides and the bus/train thing were well used and the storyteller was great. Depends on what your kids are into I suppose. If they're Gameboy types you're basically scuppered!
We're going this year too anyway.

Doesn't sound too bad for what you get. It's not comparable to seeing santa in a shopping centre, for example, where it's in and out in 5 mins. Like the other poster said, it's more like a day trip.
