Your song of the year?

Might be a tad early but not many albums in the pipeline for the remainder of the year. A good year for music IMO with solid offerings from the likes of Deerhunter, Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem et al but my fav tune had to be from that Sheffield lot.

While not exactly reinventing the wheel, this was a bold step. An acerbic slab of riffing underpinned by a brutal, propulsive rhythm section, Turner's abstract yet potent lyricism delivered with a bawdy swagger absent on their previous efforts and a middle section that made my jaw drop on first hearing, this tune is a stonker. A candidate simply because of the seamless shift from that see-sawing bassline into the plodding eerieness of the bridge.

Going to lick this for another month. It's just going to turn into another list thread and there are enough of them already. Good songs though but we'll do a song of the year/album of the year in December.
