New AEG or grenade launcher for current AEG?

    Bit of an odd question but I've been considering stimulating the economy a bit and buying a new AEG (AKS-74U, specifically) but I also got thinking that maybe I'll just add to my current AK-74M setup and get a GP-30 grenade launcher instead.

    I ask you ladies and gents what you think would be more useful: a new AEG or a grenade launcher?

    Are grenade launchers even worth it for the price? I play both indoors and outdoors in both dense and open terrain.

    I'd appreciate your input. :)

    You'll only ever use 1 AEG at a time. Do you want to add to your current options, by being able to fire a cluster of BB's, or would you prefer to have a different AEG to choose from each skirmish?

    Grenade launchers are unanimously cack...but they're a sort of cack that people still enjoy. They are rarely used, cost a lot, and ineffective. However that doesn't stop anything in airsoft...in fact it's almost a pre-requisite.

    If it were me, I tend to have trouble buying accessories full stop, cause in the back of my head is "But for an extra €X.XX I could buy a new gun!", I'd buy the new AEG...but that's just me

    Cost of high-end rifle: ~€350

    Cost of (effective and reliable) grenade launcher: ~€160, plus one grenade ~€80, plus one spare ~€80, plus pouch to hold said grenades ~€20.

    Amount of time using high-end rifle on average day: All day.

    Amount of time using grenade launcher on average day: Once.

    Value versus cost puts the rifle in the lead, and that's coming from someone with seven launchers. You'll rarely, if ever, use it.

    Actually, I was going to get a used Chinese AKS-74U for less than 150 if I can. The grenades I'd get would be the Vanares POM grenades you can get for $20 a piece. The launcher would probably be used as well if possible. The grenade pouch is already on my SMERSH rig and are unused. I appreciate your logical approach, though. :)

    Well, revising that then;

    Used AK: ~€150

    Used (decent) launcher: ~€100
    Reliable and effective grenades: ~€80

    POM grenades are ok, but they're not fantastic. I had several and their performance was mediocre. Short range, narrow spread and weak impact.
    If you want reliable, Madbull is really the only way to go. The Vanaras ones are far from the worst (a spot reserved for CA grenades), but don't expect much from them, especially in cold weather. They work much better in warmer climates.
