Highly hypothetical, but just suppose economic doomsday came in the reuoured 60 days (or whatever). The EU/IMF refuse to bail us out & the country goes broke.

Now in this highly hypothetical situation, the government is totally out of money, so first things to stop being paid are the PS wages etc, services will start to dry up, there's no dole, ignoring the looting etc which is going to start.

When people stop paying their mortgage (because they can't or won't), the banks go to government, cap in hand (again), only there's no money this time, so salaries stop being paid, so staff don't bother to turn up & doors are closed, we're now into a total economic meltdown by I'd guess about day 45/50.

The money's gone, the jobs are gone, the banks are gone... Who owns my house ?

What you're talking about there is the total collapse of the country and to be honest where the deeds of your house are would probably be the least of your worries in such a situation.

Rest assured that your above scenario won't (as in highly unlikely) happen though :)

I don't want to be tempting fate - this is FF/Cowen we are dealing with after all - but I really don't think you need to be concerned about scenario.

(If it does happen tho, I have a years supply of assless chaps which 'm prepared to trade for petrol and tobacco.

There's some great nut job fora in the US where people, fearing the collapse of the dollar and the folding of federal government due to quantative easing, advise each other on how to prepare for the economic apocalypse.

Apparently, stockpiling fuel, agricultural land, weapons and canning equipment are the way forward. And keeping all your money in gold coins, obviously.

Was watching some stuff by Peter schiff and Gerald Celente recently on youtube.

This is an interesting read about weaknesses in the US system if there is a collapse of sorts:

The coup would have already removed the real problem by then though, namely the Brians behind the operation. The people would rally behind our new military overlords in the face of the IMF oppressors. Therefore, house arrests and beatings would not be necessary.
    :D

Wouldn't be worrying about the house if that came to pass.

I'd be worried about having enough food to survive!

This thread...this thread belongs somewhere else. I can't imagine where, though. It's not Politics, and we don't have a Survivalism forum. Probably belongs on some other discussion forum entirely - one dedicated to beans, guns, and gold.
