I put in 20 units in 2008. Swing over arm, ACR, milk yield monitors, washdown pump, plant washer, low level wash line, Compressed air feeders and air operated entry gates for about 60k plus installation cost which was mostly farm labour plus a guy who knew what he was doing.

Bit of everything was bought from stinson in the north. My main priority was reliability and cost. what i really liked was that he deals with all makes so can take the best of different bits. And each component was priced individually so if i felt there was something a little better i could change it. This happened with my clusters as the cheapest were the alfa style 160ml claw pieces but then for a few € more i bought a large capacity westphalia lookalike which i am happy with not broke 1 yet in 2 years. In his opinion fullwood q4 is the best pump he also could supply a copy of it but finds its not as reliable. Kingston regulator, ATL meters and feed controller, Orby feeders, Davlec plant washer, Waikato 2x2 pulsator, Italian made acr ram with westpalia solenoid. Swing arms are his own made up ones. Clarke compressor for the gates and feeders plus to blow milk from milk pump into tank. Dump line is controlled by a lever that pinches the milk line and dump line. And some stainless steel and plastic piping.
I also got the grant off the job and the grant man said he wished more done what i did as they knew the manufacturers put the price up when the grant went up.
Case in point i priced the parlour in 06 with the 2 main dairy companies and for a really basic equiped parlour was 21k then 13 months later the same spec was 36k plus the little bits you need to get milking. Was told that it was due to stainless steel prices.
Biggest problem is getting someone to help install if your far from the north. I was quoted 10k (just to install a basic spec 20 unit) and the guy reckoned he and 1 other fella would do it in 2 weeks. Thats works out 1 months labour for 1 man for 10 grand = 120k per year.
