Anyone thinking of applying to this or applied in the past? I'm hoping to apply. You've to present a portfolio and some of your work, sit an interview and if successful then sit a bench test. I think they only take on about 12 people, and only open it every second year for entry.

I'd love to apply....but hoping to do the metalwork course in NCAD first (:

I'm hoping to apply, but there doesn't seem to be a date yet for the 2011 course. It looks like a great technical education, but maybe a little traditional artistically?
They've had open days in previous years - I'm hoping they'll do the same again.

Their current students will be showing their work at the arts&crafts fair in the rds in december, so it will be a good gauge of the quality they expect :)

I'd love to apply for this, but probably have no hope as I don't have any arty background :( I have the interest, and am learning to work with silver (making jewellery & setting stones in the NCAD CEAD course), but no art degree or even for Leaving Cert.

If anyone has experience of applying for this (how you found the application / interview process, how extensive & professional your portfolio was etc.), would love to hear from you.

Will try to get to the stand at the RDS craft fair to quiz the current students!

I have done the NCAD degree, CCOI course is very into the technical and is great experience. I know a few people who have done it in the past. anyone has a good chance of getting in be they a banker or an artist, they basically want to see that you have the interest and a certain amount of basic skill/ability.
