I was under the impression that Boeing are using the first 5-10 frames for accelerated testing. So those lined up B787s aren't actually waiting to be certified, they are taking part in the process. Boeing have already painted some of these in the livery of the intended customer. (JAL, RAM, ANA) I assume these customers get a discount for accepting one of the test aircraft. (I think Airbus used the first 4 A380 for testing purposes)

Looking at that video got me thinking. Everytime I see the B787 is looks like a smaller aircraft. I'm wondering if its an optical illusion, in that the larger windows give the impression that the fuselage is smaller than it actually is. Also there is the fact that commomly seen widebodies have a nose that is pointed towards the middle/centre (A330/B767/B777) while smaller jets have a point lower down (B737/A320) Thoughts?

I thought they had more issues with refits due on the completed frames pushing final completion date back into 2011 ?

All Nippon are due to get the first delivery in February '11 ,though it might get pushed back depending on the investigation of the latest fire during a test flight of ZA002
