out for a duck

    hi went out for a duck this morning -2 at 7 am had a pond lined up my self and the lab made our way it was like we were walking on broken glass but we got there . 7.35 am first flight started 10 or 12 ducks flew over to high for a shot and dead calm let them off next 3 more came in gave them a call 2 turned big mistake crossing me from left to right i dropped the pair in stubble field job done . waited for a few mins the bigger bunch came back again few calls 3 turned and i dropped 2 more had enough put out a bag of rolled barley for them will try again in 10 days or so no phone with me pic taken in me house max done a great job picking them up no teal on the pond the must have found a new spot will get out for a deer later on today hopefully nice to use the aya now and again

    Well done, I went out yesterday avo after a deer before dark, all I saw was a Hare the sice of a lab and a Phezzie the size of a rooster but oh dear, No Deer :(

    You sure? Never seen a no. 2 boxlock before, not sure they exist. Looks like a no. 4 deluxe to me. Cracking piece of wood and lovely case hardening though.

    SORRY FOR THE MIX UP I HAVE 2 OF THEM NO1 AND NO2 DELUXE NO 4 BOUGHT A PAIR A FEW YEARS AGO THE OTHER ONE IS CHOKED 1/4 AND 1/2 THERE 28 INCH BARRELS I HAVE THEM STAMPED NO1 AND NO 2

    lovely gun all the same. Just bought a nice no. 4 myself, 12 bore, 1/4 and 1/2 choke.

    Nailed 3 nice mallard drakes myself today on a lovely pond near Newcastle, South Dublin - the owner is a sound guy I knew from the GAA years ago:)

    Hadn't a bad day myself over my ould one, and her 1 year old Llewellin daughter. And that little fella is good as well,he's a good litle digger.

    The averge Irish winter is duck heaven - I feel sorry for farmers who's lands get flooded(assuming the can't house stock) but their is no doubt it makes for great sport for the keen wildfowler:)
