Just wondering has anybody come across this before. I bought an Extreme Sandisk 16GB Compact Flash card (60MB/s) off amazon a few months back and when I was checking the card in the PC file properties it gives a file storage size of just under 8GBs! Im wondering was I ripped off or is there something I am missing?!

I also have an 8GB card and they both have roughly the same storage capacities now when in my cameras

Your camera probably doesn't understand a 16GB card. You might check to see if there is a firmware update. Make sure you offload any pictures you've taken (by plugging the camera into your computer) then try putting that same compact flash in another camera, or in a card reader to see if those can see more than 8GB.

But he says his PC only recognises it as an 8gig card

If the Card has been formatted in the camera, then it will look the size it has been set. If the camera will only support up to 8GB then that is what the PC will see.

You could try formatting the card on the PC and see how that goes.

It could also be a mistake and the wrong card was put in the packaging.

Thanks guys :) I will have a look at the card later on and see if I can format it on the PC. I will also have a look at the firmware issue and see if I can update it! It wasnt too big a problem as I increased space by changing the settings from shooting RAW and Jpegs to just shooting in RAW!

Anyway, I really really hope it wasn't the wrong card in the packaging as you refer to cabansail :(
