Thats an alright deal for sure, well argos list it as having a "pc input" socket so surely yes it does have a pc input socket.

Bear in mind though, no mpeg4 and just because its branded a grundig, it aint no piece of quality german electronics. To be honest, i'd be going for the 32" samsung thats going for 360€ in currys and power city at the moment.

    Thanks for reply.
Just wondering why Mpeg 4 is better to have?

You may have heard of Saorview which will be the only way to get RTE through an aerial from 2012. Its basically the digital transmission of RTE rather than analogue, which means a far better picture quality and wider range of channels, and HD too, whenever that arrives. Saorview is already available in testing mode, have a look at the terrestrial forum for a lot more information

A tv with mpeg4 has the ability to pick up saorview, a tv like this grundig cannot without an external set top box. Bear in mind as well though, that this wouldnt affect you at all if you plan to use this tv with sky or upc

Ah, I had read an ordinary ariel can pick up Saorview but I didn't realise it was in conjunction with Mpeg4 TV. Thanks for informing me, much appreciated.

No bother, put simply at this stage, you've to gauge any bargain on a non mpeg4 tv with the added cost of a set top box when they become available, and they should be about 50€

    IMO not a bargain.

Maybe this should be in requests, but following on this thread does anyone have any recommendations for Mpeg4 LCD TV for around €200 - €250 incl. delivery or pick up.

Does Argos or Asda do these types of set at good value?

    Thanks.

Came in the door or in a newspaper the other day....loads of tv's so called into PC World to have a look. Asked this guy do you have any small screen 19-22" mpeg4 tv's.

Said all new tv's after 2009 are mpeg4. I said none of these are marked mpeg 4 and the country is flooded with these but their only mpeg2 and cant receive the irish DTT.

He asks is Irish DTT here.....Told him it was launched on 31st October last and offical launch next year.

    He hadn't a clue what I was talking about:rolleyes:

I'm no economic expert but considering the Irish population of 4.4 million in contrast to 61.4 million in the UK, economies of scale become a major factor for pricing, particularly considering that Saorview uses different techonolgy to Freeview. The more you sell, the cheaper you can sell it!

    It is what it's.

    oneweb,

RTE didn't invent the technology themselves, its in use in many different countries such as France, etc, etc. so the population argument doesn't hold up.
