    frrom the Beeb
Aston Villa could be without 10 players for the visit of Manchester United on Saturday.

Defenders Carlos Cuellar and Habib Beye are the latest additions to the injury list, while Stephen Ireland is doubtful with flu.

    Doubtful: Ireland (flu)

Injured: Beye & Weimann (both ankle), Carew & Cuellar (both calf), Delph, Heskey, Petrov & Reo-Coker (all knee), Sidwell (Achilles)

Thankfully Gabby should be back and Utd are missing quite a few players.
    Suspended: Scholes (one match)

Doubtful: Anderson & Gibson (both virus), Evra (ankle), Giggs (hamstring)

Injured: Hargreaves & Owen (both hamstring), Rafael (dead leg), Rooney & Valencia (both ankle)

Im predicting a very tight game and would not be surprised to see a draw but being a Villa fan... 1-0 Villa thanks to a A.Young free

    Guess at Villa's lineup:

    ....................friedel

    L.Young....Dunne...Collins...Warnock

    .........................Clark
    .................NRC
    Albrighton..........Bannon.....A.Young

    ...............Gabby/The Fonz

The bench is kinda bare though especially if Ireland is out with the flu

NRC is out. Rumour is that Hogg is going to start so maybe

    ....................friedel

    L.Young....Dunne...Collins...Warnock

    .................Hogg
    Downing..........Bannan.....A.Young

Jaysus i know that why did I leave downing out. If anything he has been our most on form player recently after really turning things around since an underwhelming first season.

United should fancy their chances against the above lineup especially in midfield but can you imagine how big a win against united would be for those young players could it be achieved.

Huge test for Hogg if true. Villa need Ashley to step it up big time now also as it will be tough for Gabby only making his return to the side.

Villa missing 5 CMs: Reo Coker, Sidwell, Petrov, Ireland and Delph. Can't see this going too well.

Even Villa fans know next to nothing about Hogg.

Glad to see Carrick in the line up and not be depressed about it.

I hope United don't underestimate this Villa side today.

Bannon, in particular, is a player that I think has a great future. Have seen him play against the United reserves a few times and he has dominated each time - we couldn't live with him. Very exciting prospect.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

    Is Clark injured?

Only saw hogg once, when he came on during the bogs games. But unfortunately I can't remember how he played. Probably ****e, along with everyone else that day.

Has Brown passed out O'Shea in the right back pecking order or is he being put in the window for the the january sales?

the average age of the Villa midfield is 21.5.
    By my calculations!!

Can't see Brown leaving the club. Ever.
He offers something different to O'Shea, and needs a few games while he's fit.

Got a hat trick against them last time. Destroyed them. Looks a cracking prospect for Villa. Looking forward to the game. I'll go United 3-1. Berba to get the first.

Big battle for Vidic today, Agbonlahor has given him problems in the past. He has been absolutely immense this season though so I think he'll rise to the challenge today.

Lets hope Utd get their second away win of the season today.

There is definitely media rumblings, though you never know how true they are. If he got back to the CL winning form he'd be a great asset still.

I'd like to keep Brown, he's a decent experienced defender while fit and versatile as well.

This is going to be tight.

That United shirt is one the worst they've ever had. Looks like a cheap training top.

I don't think it'd make sense to sell him. Realistically, we probably wouldn't get a good price, and I wouldn't be nervous to see him start any big game.

    the two big battles...

Fletcher and Carrick v the inexperienced Villa pair of Bannon and Hogg.
Gabby v Vidic - can Gabby, just back to fitness, trouble one of the absolute top-tier defenders in the League like he has done a bit in the past?

if Villa don't do well in these two battles, i'd predict a potential mauling.

Not great! Few stray passes from Villa, few silly off-sides for United. No clear chances for either to score yet.

Snorefest (and as a City fan I can recognise one when I see it!).

No shots on goal at either end and some loose passing from both sides. Rio did have a go at the linesman though.

Awful from Collins and even worse finish by Berbatov.

Wes Brown is an absolute liability. United could lose this game due to Downing raping him on the left.
