I have been living in Ireland for 4 years. I am now planning to return to work in London. I was just wondering if I would be entitled to tax returns? I have checked the revenue page but to no avail. And if I am entitled to tax back, do i need to claim before end of year?
    Many thanks :-)

    Hi MadZoo,
Yes you're entitled to apply, but you might not necessarily be owed any money back.
Tax refunds are usually on the basis that you've been paying rent, incurred medical expenses, paid bin charges etc. You could also be owed money back if, for example, you paid emergency tax that wasn't refunded.

Revenue have a direct service called PAYE Anytime where you can add you details. Or, there are a number of companies in Ireland that can file on your behalf. There's a charge for these services, but some people find it more straight forward.

Since you can claim back expenses for up to 4 years, you would definitely need to file for 2006 before the end of the year (also, there's a lot of talk of changes being made to tax reliefs available in this December's budget)
