Directional sound.

What the hell is up with the sound in this game or lack of it i should say.

Directional sound was very important in MW2 online and with a good 5.1 system it would often save your bacon.

All of the sound seems to be divided to all speakers,guys are running up to me and stabbing me and i hear nothing.Whats the point of ninja pro in the game,why include.
I would be very interested in owners of turtle beach and tritton headsets opinions on the matter.

Agreed to a point ,however i have a logitech G35 7.1 headset and you can still sound whore with such a headset

turtle beach owner here . seems to be nerfed rather than just cutting it out altogether it has helped me catch people coming from behind or the side more than once but much harder to notice than modern warfare . makes you wonder why they included ninja at all . i guess there just trying to level the playing feild a bit more for the players who cant afford top of the range head sets and watnot . in saying that these people are usually 12 year old brats who shouldnt be playing the game in the first place so it is a prickley issue . kind of dissapointing for those of us who have already invested in headsets

I wouldn't say it's nerfed but down to the sheer incompetence of Treyarch's developers.
WaW was the same...audio was absolutely brutal in it and you'd often be in the middle of a game hearing a guy shooting at you from the front and he was actually behind you...it pissed me off bigtime which is why I only played WaW for a few hours and then forgot it.

it's not MW2

but it is a modified COD4 engine which was also used in WaW and MW2.
Treyarch devs must be bloody useless to screw up an engine which had perfect audio in it.

buy expensive headphones and cant use them for what they were intended for

In relation to the sound, I have know idea what you guys are talking about. I have 5.1 digital optical set up with my sound sytem and I know exatcly when someone is behind or in front of me, the direction of sound is fine. I only got the new sound system and it has helped me up my game....

Really? MW2 is leagues ahead of Blops sound wise

Not sure what platform you playing on, but when I loaded up my copy on the 360, it gave me an option to pick the type of sound setup I had.

I picked the surround sound one, and the sound from my 5.1 speakers works the same as normal. Footsteps all around.

What annoys is e.g. walk across floorboards and stop.. and then you hear 2 steps.. it's like we are horses or something with 2 hind legs dragging after us..!!!

I don't mind not being able to hear people's footsteps etc. as it kinda promoted camping in my opinion..
