    Hi all

Anyone remember where to get number plates made with red background and raised letters - as irish cars used to be before we conceded to our EU masters...

I have searched back but can't find the posting...

Also, there is a crowd who do them in Rutland Place in Dublin, if you want to pick them up yourself.

'Europlates' (Duleek, Co. Meath) also do them. 01-8251804.
    Also 'Monplate' in Cork 021-4883127.

I think it's always nice to see classics (imported or original) with period plates. The modern style (i.e. smaller digits) silver-on-black plates just look wrong on classics imo.

Depends on the amount of letters/numbers. It might get bit crowded.

Red rear plates were used on new vehicles right up until Dec 1986. However Irish registrations back then had no more than 6 digits in total. But with some thought and slightly smaller (UK style) digits, it can work very well and look the part....like 'kyote00's pic above (i.e. a perspex plate)

Have a look at www.framptons.net for ideas.
They also do red rear plates.

Its Radiator Services on Rutland place that do them.
Pressed ones take about a day turnaround and they also
do perspex ones which are very accurate to old irish ones,
font size etc,but they take a couple of days to get made.
Very helpful lads in there and a great selection of plates too.

Heres a pic of my old RS2000 with their red pressed plate on it,
I painted the raised edge in black as thats how I remember them
    back in the day.

IIRC, 'Europlates' can supply that style of plate.
