Higher Diplomas: recognized in UK?

    Hi all,

I'm considering doing a Higher Diploma in Statistics next year as I don't have a strong enough background to go straight into a Master's programme in Statistics.

However, I'm wondering whether employers and universities in the UK would be familiar with such a qualification?
Would they recognize that it is equivalent to a BSc?

I don't want to end up in a situation where I've got a qualification that is only known about in Ireland!
