    hi all

I got a problem with an 01 audi tdi 110BHP i bought... Its was lying up for nearly 2 years outside and will not start ... seems to be a problem with the immobiliser in the speedohead/dash clock as its corroded with dampness that has soaked into car..
also the pixels in the screens are all messed up too ...
I was pricing these at the main dealer who told me they can supply a reconditioned one at over €450 and another €60 on top to code it in.. told me i had to match the part number exactly,,
anyway was trying to locate a similar dash clock in the scrap yard and have tried all over but can not get a matching part number...

anyone know if i have to match the number up exactly or are they just telling me this to get me to buy theirs and any others ideas on how i can get this car started il really appreciate it

    thanks

yes thats what it does,,immobilized and dash clock damaged, where do i go from here as buying from main dealer is too expensive

You could get the immobilizer disabled in the ecu , this would allow you replace the clocks with any from a scrap yard

not sure if that can be done as someone mentioned the immobilizer is built into the dash clock...

Yes the immobilizer is built into the dash clock. Also stores the identity (VIN) which is matched to door locks, convienence control unit and ECU so they cant be swapped from one car to another. At least not at a dealership.

Also be a good idea to drain fuel tank as its been off the road so long.

I'm pretty sure you need the exact part no of the IP, the no is usually followed by one or two letters and these would also have to match as they account for small diffs in the panel.
have you had this diagnosed properly for immo fault?
Also if the dampness has been significant to effect the ip than you are probably looking at other elec/mech repairs.
has the bulkhead overflowed into the car?
