    had a crash in december 2008 which wasnt my fault i suffered servere injuries to my neck and back and after many months of been out of work i eventually felt able to return on light duties (i work in retail) its still an ongoing battle trying to get things sorted because my solister never applied to piab until 12months after the accident(jan 2010) as he was trying to leave them out of it and found than he was getting no joy from the insurance company on offers etc (they kept saying claim was not on there system)i had my assessment in aug this year and have my report back and now they are saying sooner rather than later it will be settled but thing is my solister is right lazy ive to do all the contacting i had to ring piab who had to contact him to sort out an assessment with a specialist(as i had seen his specialist,had an MRI and had my own GP Notes he told me i didnt need 1 theyd go on them) because i was going travellin for a few months ive since returned (family reasons) im just sick of constant lies telling me ill have money and those deadlines have cum and gone i dunno should i report him or just ask for a reduction in fees when my money does come true i know all this takes time but he delayed it an extra 12months by not replying straight away after the accident and i should have been seen by PIAB doctur when i was less moblie and how long is sooner rather than later lol

    hi Laura, am in a simular situation. one thing i will say is that before your solicitor can put a claim through to PIAB you need to be 'recovered', I no with neck and back injuries you never really fully recover but your recovery time before you went back to work and treatment recieved in that time needs to be assessed, you cannot put through a claim straight away. your solicitor really should have told you all this.

    Just to give you an estimation how long the claim will take;
    your solictor first needs to write to piab to see if they are willing to accept the claim, they usually only take a week or so to reply. then the person who is responsible for the accident is contacted to inform them that the claim is being put through, they have 90 days to reply where by they could give an settlement offer, if/when they agree for your solicitor to put the claim through to PIAB, PIAB have 90 days to make a settlement.
    You should really not be doing the solicitor's work, and I really cant advise you on what to do but I would get a professional opinion, from what I understand solicitors are fairly regulated, so maybe there is a regulation board that you could contact?? Good Luck with everything

    I'm not even sure where to start in this thread.

    Paragraphs are nice.
    Legal advice is not.
    Actually asking a question is also good.
