Problems changing sat box

My old freeview box gave up the ghost a few days ago(went dead) so I got out my old Thomson sky box to replace it.It gives me a" no satellite signal recieved error" even though I can put my laptop satellite reciever on the same cable and it works.
I plugged the Thomson box into my dad's sky dish and it works ok,which leads me to believe it's a problem with my lnb.

My setup was originally sky and the only thing I changed was the lnb to a Titanium Twin lnb .Are all the sky default settings on my Thomson box ok for this? What could I be doing wrong?

Hope this makes sense to somebody.

Freeview requires and aerial for UK DTT, i assume you are talking about a freesat or a satellite Free to air box?

If it is a Freeviewbox and used with an aerial it wont work with a satellite dish.
