    Hi!
As the title says, I'd love to know people's opinion on what the max age for flower girl is?
When I was 8 years old I was a flower girl for my uncles wedding, but that was 22 years ago and Im reckoning times have changed.
My wedding will be in Dec 2012 and the girl I'm thinking of will be 7 years by then.....do you think is this too old to be a flower girl?
    thanks in advance

There's no rules, it's your wedding day..

Our flower girl was 11 so 7 would be certainly fine. Go for it.

Im getting married next September and our flowergirl will be 11.

Has anyone thought about dresses for the flowergirl - I dont want her to look too childish but also not too grown up - trying to find the balance. Any suggestions?

Our 11 year old flowergirl wore a very simple white/ivory dress (Sorry, I'm a man that can't differentiate!!) with cuttings from the bridesmaids dresses as a tie around it. Worked well.

my eldest is 9 and i've my other 2 who will be 3 and 6 when we marry..i'm having my eldest daughter as a sort of honourary bridesmaid as she thinks that being a flower girl is "too babyish" when she's standing next to her 2 younger sisters

in saying that, my niece was flowergirl a few years ago and she was 12 and loved it and as it was said there are no rules at all..it's your day :-)

If you're looking online for ideas, try searching for "junior bridesmaid" dresses rather than flowergirl. I got married in 2008 and had my two nieces as flowergirls who were 10 at the time. Had the issue of not being able to find something that wasn't babyish or then on the other end of the spectrum something that was too grown-up. I had the best luck using "junior bridesmaid" as usually those were more childish versions of bridesmaid outfits.

    I think 7 is fine.

I see quite a few people have mentioned 11...I think once you dont put too much pressure about the dress you should be fine, as she could feel awkward as it is going through puberty.

I remember starting periods at 10 years old (20 years ago) and my breasts were fully formed by 11....apparently these days girls start puberty at 8 or 9 years old.

So once nobody makes a fuss about altering their dress or accepting that the flower girl might have breasts by the time your wedding is...then its all fine.
