    Hi,

Might be very naive here but wondering what the procedure is when you get pulled over by a guard. Was driving in town today and turned up a one way street (clearly signposted and I'd been up there before so just complete carelessness, did the maneuver properly, just up the wrong way)!

Pulled in straight away when I realised, looked in mirror and there was a motorcycle guard, put down the window and apologised. He asked for my licence but didn't take it off me to read it, asked me where I was from (what town), jotted something down and then said 'how are you going to get out of this? You got yourself into the mess, you get yourself out of it' and drove off.

Morto, I did a U'y and took off the right way.

I know you can get fines from your reg on cameras but can I expect a fine and penalty points in the post?

Sorry about the length of post!

    S

By the sounds of it I shouldnt expect you to hear any more about it to be honest.

He probably couldn't be bothered. I'd be surprised if you hear from them again.

Cheers for the reply. Can't say he was the most personable guard but that'd be very sound of him. Would be happier if he hadn't done so much scribbling in his notebook!

I think as the other posters have said. He won't prosecute you and really you were mannerly to him so thats the end of it.

Would you be happier if he carefully examined your licence, verified your address and demanded your insurance cert? Followed by a close inspection of tyres, lights, NCT etc.

TBH I think you will hear no more about it. Most of the biker gardai would admit themselves that they are not the most personable of chaps anyway!

if he took your reg and sent out points etc you could argue it wasn't you driving as he didn't look at your licence to write your name down.
