Amazon are doing Black Friday in the UK this year, usually some good deals in the US so worth watching.

    www.amazon.co.uk/blackfriday

    What Is Black Friday?
Black Friday is the day that follows Thanksgiving in the USA; with Thanksgiving on the fourth Thursday of November, this year Black Friday will be November 26. It traditionally marks the beginning of Christmas shopping, with shoppers grabbing some great prices on a huge range of products. Amazon.com offers some unbelievable deals throughout Thanksgiving week and on Black Friday, and this year, we wanted to do the same. We're bringing Black Friday Deals Week to the Amazon.co.uk website, so our customers will be able to take advantage of some unbelievable deals throughout the week.

Is it wishful thinking they might include the new Kindle in this? Thinking of getting one for christmas! :P

This could either be an amazing sale or extemely dissapointing. Got a few stuff in the basket that I have been meaning to get. Going to wait for this!

This better not be as bad as ibood doing an Irish ibood hunt. What a joke they have been.

What sort of things are expected to go on sale? I've a few things in the basket too but mostly books...I'm guessing they won't really be part of this.

I dont know really, but it could be more than you think. Books have always been one of amazons biggest products so I would say there would be alot on sale. Some of the things I have are headphones and a DVD boxset etc and are a bit expensive, and I am ordering them for xmas so I dont mind waiting just incase :)

It could be great alright. Was over there (New York) for it one year. It was crazy. You could get the latest camera for a quarter of the usual dollar price.

Even if this was a fraction as good it will be great.

BTW, 26th is Friday, not 22nd (title)

Yeah. They're running it for the week, so it should be "Monday to Friday, Black Friday deal thingy"

I think the idea is the keep changing whats on offer over the week.

You'll have to order from Amazon.com unless you have a UK address, and they'll add on import duty on checkout.

The co.uk website won't ship to Kindle to Ireland.

The Kindle is great, bought myself one for my birthday, make sure to get the one with 3G and Wifi, from what I understand with the 3G you can access the library anywhere in the world. I've bought about 5 books so far for an upcoming holiday, Kindle on the beach!!! There was a 3/4 week waiting list when I bought mine so make sure to order soon for Xmas.

I'd say this is just a marketing ploy, trying to cash in on the american version.

    Sounds good.

Will keep an eye on this.

Yeah I've a few books/dvds that I wouldn't mind picking up but I doubt they'll be part of this. And if they are it'll probably be just a minimal amount off the current price.

Sounds like it's amazons response to deals.ebay.co.uk as they've got a special "Christmas deals" section now !

Think I'll mainly just stick to what I have waiting in my basket, and see if anyone here comes across good deals.

Quick question guys here with regards Amazon's Black Friday sale, i'm looking to know if they will have special deals or big price reductions on bridge cameras during Black Friday?

    thanks

You are best off having the ones that you have your eye on in your basket anyway as the prices on Amazon can fluctuate on a daily basis. I've picked up good bargains when they drop the price on items I have in my basket. When you click on your basket in future it will tell you if the prices have gone up or down.

Some details posted up by andywedge over on HUKD
Offers on Amazon.co.uk will take the form of ‘Lightning Deals’ with a limited quantity of an item being offered at a discount for a short period of time. Once that quantity has been reached or the time limit elapses, the ‘Lightning Deal’ will end

“The deals will come thick and fast so customers are advised to check back regularly for significant discounts on items across all product categories,” continued Brian McBride.
There will be more than 200 great deals available over the five day period including*:
    - Over 60% off Nintendo Wii Consoles
    - Over 60% off Flip Mino High Definition Camcorders
    - Over 60% off Microsoft Xbox consoles
    - Canon PowerShot Cameras at less than half price
    - Over 60% off Eternity Moment Eau de Parfum
    - Over 70% off Pearl Necklaces
    - Sony TVs at half price

Just to be clear. It's only certain TVs they won't ship. Unfortunately, Sonys are among them.

Good chance I reckon as Ipad 2g will be out Jan/Feb, they will want to clear loads of old stock. I have a hunch Pc World may be doing a deal on them tomorrow.http://www.pcworld.ie

Does anyone know if this will start at 12 midnight tonight or at some stage in the morning?

Young lad is looking for a Wii for Christmas and I wouldn't like to miss it if they really are more than 60% off.

Keep in mind that Amazon calculate their discounts on the RRP. The RRP of the Wii is £179.99 and they sell it for £139.99, a saving of 22%. If they calculate the 60% discount off the RRP then the price should be around £110. On other forums, users are saying that it should be £70/£80 but they're working that out on the £139.99 price.

Not really sure how this sale is going to pan out, but according to the amazon twitter:
Black Friday Deals Week starts Monday at 9am - Take That 'Progress' CD for £1. www.amazon.co.uk/blackfriday
1:16 AM Nov 19th via web

Not really sure how this sale is going to pan out, but according to the amazon twitter:

Thanks Al, that saves me waiting up for nothing.

Thanks also Rael, I will be happy to get it for £110 as it's a planned purchase anyway and I was expecting to pay €180 or thereabouts. I'm under no illusion that the 60%+ reduction they are claiming would be based on anything other than the RRP.

    And looking at this:
There will be more than 200 great deals available over the five day period including

It is probable that all the deals will not be available at 9am in the morning but will be drip fed over the 5 days...

Is that not 60% off so it'd work out at £70 at the RRP.

It is indeed 60%+ off RRP.

    £179.99/100X40 = £71.99

I can't see them offering too many at that price or they lasting for more than 30 seconds, hopefully I'm wrong and I can nab one...

    It depends on the model.

I bought a Toshiba no problem recently.

The number of laptops that can be shipped to Ireland now seems to be increasing.

hmm, a watch listed as £69.99 with no price for tomorrow yet

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Timex-Ironman-Triathlon-Watch-T5G691P4/dp/B003Y3AT3I/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

according to the reviews it was £30 a little while ago, so they've increased the price to then put it back at a 'sale' price it looks like.
