A tenent can't be an owner by very definition of both words.

You prob mean occupent, can you not just ask them, or have to asked them and you don't believe them?

I'm new today :D - and this is also my question. I am not a builder or doing any enevation work for anybody, but there is a good reason why I need to know who eaxactly owns a particular house. For my own reasons I don't want to ask the people involved.

Can anyone help me find out through the internet, who the registered owner is? I did try on Landregistry.ie but was not successful.

    Many thanks.

    Not helpful, Bryan F!

I know who lives in the house, but I don't know who's the registered owner.

Any more red-herring replies - and I will report you as troll!

you will find it difficult through the internet, go visit the land registery office not the construction forum
When you don’t know the relevant folio number or the name of the registered owner
In this case you can obtain the relevant folio number by applying for a map search (you must be able to identify and outline the property on a map). You should send the map with the plot outlined to the relevant office with your request or you can attend the public counter at the relevant office. (See 'Where to apply' below).
A fee of € 2.50 is payable in for a names index search or €6 for a mapping search. Once you have obtained the relevant folio number in this way you can apply for a certified copy using the application forms (see forms in When you know the folio number above ).
If the property is not registered in the Land Registry it may have been dealt with by the Registry of Deeds

Many thanks BrianF, for the trouble you've taken in your detailed reply. Will follow up on that.

All I need to know is the name of the person who owns the house.

    Again thanks a lot! :D  ;)
