    Lads,

Anyone work here for a company that requires them to travel as part of their job?

I am looking to find out the going rate for mileage and how that generally works in regard to me billing my employer, he owes me about 1120km of mileage.

    Cheers

    Will

Is it in your contract that you are to get paid for it?

The reason I ask is because I can't recall any rates set in law or similar and I know some companies will simply see it as a "we pay you X more and you go where needed".

I would assume that it would have been in your contract if you are to be paid mileage?

Revenue have a set mileage rate for employers, this is the minimum rate they can pay you (I have heard of some employers paying more), it would have been stipulated in your contract when you started what rate you would be paid....

Mileage is paid to the employee tax free and is paid per KM, it is also dependent on the size of the car engine. You also need to be keeping a record of your mileage for your employer incase they are audited by the Revenue....Here is a link to the Revenue website giving more details on mileage....

    Hope it helps!
