All lenses should work on them. i have a few minolta lenses that work fine with my a200

You may get a case where the AF won't work, but it's rare with the sonys

As Tallon said, most A mount Konica-Minolta (or Minolta) lenses will work fine with the Sony Alpha range.

Just a couple of things to remember/consider:

    1. The A230 is not a full frame sensor so with the A mount lenses you will get a cropping factor.

    2. I have heard that the torque on the Sony AF motors is higher than the old Minolta bodies, this can lead to problems with some lenses (I believe certain Sigma lenses in particular) and may result in the AF gears (in the lens) being damaged/stripped.

I move to Sony from Minolta as I had a good "stable" of lenses. So far the only lens I have had and issue with is my Sigma 70-300 APO Macro at 300, which is annoying as it would be one of my preferred lenses. It still operates but the AF is not reliable.

There is a list of potential problem lenses somewhere (zerohamster pointed it out to me), I'll see if I can find it for you.

No your images will not be cropped. Have a look at this for an explanation:
