So..... i don't think there's too much wrong with this, but here we go....

I just picked up my new set of TM Burner 2 Irons yesterday, and i'm thinking of treating myself to a bag. Thing is, the TM bags are either mad money or just not very nice.... So i was looking at getting a Titleist Bag

    http://www.mcguirksgolf.com/titleist-9-5-staff-golf-bag/tita0302pd.html

Now, i mentioned it to a few of my buddies, and they've mentioned that its a major "no no" to have a bag thats not TM considering whats in it, but my argument back is that Titleist do balls, and i'm thinking of getting a Vokey Wedge, so you could kind of duff it that way. They also said that, with me being a beginner, getting a big bag like that i would look like a complete plank. (my current bag is a 9inch callaway, so its only a half inch bigger)

I was talking to my pro even, and he scoulded me, saying i'd have to get the TM bag, saying i would be destroyed on the course if i got anything but the same make of bag as the clubs.

To me, this is a bunch of rubbish, and i would hope that the fashion police wouldn't be on patrol on the course. but whats your feeling? Would i be asking for it, and is having a relatively big bag as a beginner looking for trouble?

Get whatever bag you like the most. I'm pretty sure neither TM nor Titleist are going to persue any legal action.

Why not go for the adidas bag, considering TaylorMade and adidas are the same company.

Is this not a wind up?

So by that logic what about the brands that dont make clubs. For example PowerCaddy. So no one should buy one of thier bags as clubs will never match?

Thats my thoughts exactly, i believe it doesn't matter what bag you have, once you personally like the look of it, and it does the job.

But i have been abused for even thinking about getting a branded bag thats not the same as my clubs. Was just wondering if you guys have come across this.

who gives a crap what bag someone uses?? IF you buy a bag just for the look & to impress your mates they thats just silly.

I have Callaway driver, TM 7 wood & rescue, cobra irons, titleist & TM balls and i have a Ping tour bag!! So what!!

BTW - i got the ping bag for 2 reasons, 1 it was secondhand & cheap and 2 its has loads of room in it.

So it seems i was right to think that there's nothing "wrong" with mixing and matching bags and clubs.

Glad to know i'm not the only person who thinks this way, thanks for the responses lads.

The comma after the name suggests that you're asking a question.
I want my answer to be a matter of record.

    I don't.

I have all Titleist clubs apart form a rescue and 2 wedges. When I carry my bag I use a Ping Hoofer...I also use the bag posted in the OP. I still haven't lost my Titleist endorsment deal for using the Ping bag so go for the Titleist one OP.

How do you find the Titleist Bag..... does it take up all of the boot? And is it very cumbersome?

@soundsham..... the lads are pretty lame alright. I won a ping hat at a society outing recently and got savage abuse for wearing it.

I wouldn't mind, but the same lads have holes in their socks when we get in from the course.

No. there is nothing wrong with mixing and matching clubs and bags. However there is clearly something wrong with your mates who believe they have to match their bags to their clubs.
I thought this was a wind up at the start but it seems it wasn't..............

O god no, not a wind up by any stretch of the imagination.

I asked because i didn't want to be "that guy", but thankfully from the responses, it seems that i was right to believe it doesn't matter what bag/club combination you use.

After all, as i mentioned previously, this game is about getting frustrated at a little white ball, not about how you look while doing it.

There's nothing wrong with mixing and matching this season, it's all to do with accessorising. The glove must be the same brand as either the clubs or the bag and your shoes must be the same colour as your belt. And white balls are so last season, orange or yellow this season are a must. Other than that it's all fine.

hades, it really is the ultimate no no in golf so stick with a TaylorMade bag even if its not ideal. If you go for the Titleist, at best you will find that while your TM clubs while not loose anything in distance, their dispersion will be a bit higher than if you had the TM bag (basic physics). Interesting point about the Adidas bag - but I havent seen any reliable tests to be able to comment. At worst you will find that some of the snooty clubs out there will spot your faux pas and not let you on the course at all.

Nothing at all wrong with being a brand Pimp. Ive got Mizuno Irons, Callaway Driver, Wilson 5 and 3 wood, Odyssey putter, all makes of balls, Ping umbrella, Powercaddy golf cart and just added new powercaddy bag used to be a cobra and not one whit of difference do I care about the brand proliferation I tout on the course. Come to think of it.........maybe thats why I'm playing so bad these days!

Cmon man...it'd be a different story if u were pro. In fact look how many brands the pros advertise. No one cares...really.

Actually tests in China have shown that the brands being owned by the same company does little to dimish the 'brand-clash dispersion effect'. A typical brand-clash increase in dispersion of around 14% reducing only to around 12% when the brands are owned by the same company (Wi & Doop, Beijing, 2009)

I also have the S83 tour bag from Mcguirks after my RC10 cart bag developed a fault. I have a full set of Titleist but don't see the problem with putting other brand clubs in a titleist bag. In my opinion though if I had a miss-matched set I would go with a bag that is unbranded like an Ogio for example or use the bag from which most of my set came from.

The s83 is a great bag but you do get some looks using it and if your game can't back up the statement the bag makes then be prepared for some ribbing. And finally yes the s83 takes up a lot of space in the car, without removing clubs it has to go on the rear seat of my golf and it is a bit of a pain taking in and out of the house, and depending on what trolley you use you can't get easy access to some of the pockets.
